The assembly to shape pate masses has a conveyor (1) to carry the pate blocks. A flat rolling section (5) lies evenly opposite the conveyor line, apart from the upstream end where it is angled away from it, to form and entry gap (4) between them. The flat rolling section is of a fabric, felt or a mesh, to roll the moving pate mass between it and the moving conveyor. A set of two lamination cylinders (6,7), rotating in opposite directions to give a delivery of pate blocks, have a fixed upstream cylinder (6) and a movable downstream cylinder (7) to set the thickness of the pate between them. A blade (8) is against the downstream cylinder, with a piston and spring (30) to define an entry gap for the material between it and the conveyor.
