The system has a body (2) that is realized by a transparent or translucent material. A base unit (3) mounted on the body forms a receptacle that defines a hollow volume. A light source e.g. electroluminescent LED, is mounted on the base unit and outside the volume to transmit light across the body. The volume is isolated in an airtight manner with respect to the exterior by a joint disposed between the body and the base unit.
