<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a template of a document file on the basis of an existing document. <P>SOLUTION: When selecting a 'setting of template' item from an editing window of the document, a 'registration of present setting' button is displayed together with a selectable icon of template information. When the 'registration of present setting' button is selected, data on a book attribute of the document during editing are read (S2201), and set contents are displayed (S2201).
