PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To glue a flat rubber, string rubber, or the like certainly to a nonwoven fabric or the like (opponent base material) via a small amount of an applied adhesive, while increasing an adhesive applied surface on an elastic string-like material (flat rubber, string rubber, or the like) to enhance adhesion between the string-like material and the base material. SOLUTION: The adhesive is supplied to a slit slot, which communicates with an adhesive supply hole and has an open lower face and an expanded middle part. The tense elastic string-like material (flat rubber, string rubber or the like) is made to penetrate the expanded part of the slit slot horizontally, and is supplied in a coating line proceeding direction, so that the adhesive is applied on the entire circumferential surface of the string-like material passing through the slit slot. An apparatus for applying the adhesive to the string-like material (flat rubber, string rubber or the like) is provided with a coater coating head having the slit slot, which communicates with the adhesive supply hole and has the open lower face and the expanded middle part.
