A spindle nut is coupled to the mass (NM1). A counter mass (GM1) is driven in synchronism with the mass, but in the opposite direction, so as to compensate for impulse of the mass. Preferably, a spindle (SP1) moves a mass and counter-mass simultaneously using threads formed in opposite directions. An independent claim is included for a device for linearly moving a mass along a toothed rack.
