PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control a home electric appliance by connecting an adapter unit to a portable terminal device. SOLUTION: An adapter unit 7 has a melody receiving means 9 for receiving melody data from the portable terminal device 1 and a melody analyzing means 10 for analyzing the control contents of the electric appliance 6 from the melody data, and controls the electric appliance by using a radio communicating means 8 to transmit to the electric appliance 6 a telegraphic message corresponding to the analyzed control contents.
