<p>A material transfer system (10) includes a first vehicle (12), a second vehicle (18, 20) and at least one towed container (22, 24). The first vehicle (12) has a material discharge device (14). The second vehicle (20) can move in a forward direction (34, reverse direction to the normal direction of travel, see figure 8 ) and a reverse direction (36). The at least one towed container (22, 24) includes a first towed container (22). The first towed container (22) is coupled to the second vehicle (20) such that the first towed container (22) follows the second vehicle (20) when the second vehicle (20) moves in the forward direction (34). A control system (30) is coupled to either the second vehicle (20) or the at least one towed container (22). The control system (30) coordinates the movement of the second vehicle (20) and the towed container (22) relative to the material discharge device (14) as the first vehicle (12) is moving and the second vehicle (20) is moving in the reverse direction (34).</p> |
