PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document feeding device capable of suppressing the generation of an irregular interference pattern due to a very small amount of an air layer formed when a transparent sheet member abuts on a document glass locally. SOLUTION: The device has a document tray placed above an image reading means to set a sheet document, an upstream side conveyance means conveying the document on the tray to an image reading position on a transparent flat plate to be read by the reading means, a downstream side conveyance means conveying the document passed through the reading position to an ejection tray, a guide means arranged between the plate and the upstream and the downstream conveyance means to guide the back face of the document to be conveyed, the transparent sheet member opposed to the guide means with a prescribed space to guide the front face side of the document, and a means for maintaining a space between the transparent sheet member and the plate in the reading position at a prescribed distance.
