PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and easily practicable product packing method using a flat tubular package which requires no periodic help of an operator side. SOLUTION: This relates to a method and a machine 1 for packing a cigarette carton group 2 using a flat tubular package 3. The top wall 4 of the package 3 is sucked and caught by a grip head 10. The grip head is moved to supply the package 3 to a sheet. The sheet sucks and catches the bottom wall of the package 3 by this suction. The relative rotary movement of the sheet and the grip head 10 is then started for deforming the package 3 from a flat profile to an open profile, the carton group 2 is pushed in the open package 3, the grip head 10 releases the top wall 4 of the open package 3, the sheet is moved to supply the package 3 to a closing station 28, and the package 3 is closed at the station.
