Plausibility testing method in which temporally sequential digitized acceleration values are fed to first and second testing stages, whereby in the first stage, the gradient of the flank of an acceleration signal is determined and the flank value compared with a threshold. In the second stage the acceleration valves are temporarily stored and given out after a time delay interval. The resultant historical value is compared with a second threshold. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a further plausibility testing method and; (b) two circuit arrangements for plausibility testing.
