<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a tandem color image forming apparatus where a plurality of image formation stations are arranged nearly on line the cost of the entire image forming apparatus rises when realizing both the detection of the positional deviation of each color image forming position and the detection of the toner adhesive amount on an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus is constituted so as to detect the positional deviation of the image forming position and the toner adhesive amount on an intermediate transfer body with the same optical detection unit 2100. Furthermore, the unit is constituted of two optical detectors 1200 and 2200 having the same housing and provided with one or more light emitting elements or one or more light receiving elements different from each other, and constituted to use both detectors in the case of detecting the deviation of the image forming position, and use either detector (2200) in the case of detecting the toner adhesive amount. Thus, the detection of the positional deviation of each color image forming position and the detection of the toner adhesive amount on the image carrier are performed at the minimum cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
