摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shield apparatus and its forming method for preventing transmission of incident light toward active elements of a display. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a plurality of metal pixels are formed wherein adjacent pixels of a plurality of the metal pixels have gaps between them. Subsequently a light shield is formed by depositing a light absorbing antireflective coating material in the gaps so as to reduce the transmission of incident light through the gaps toward active elements in the lower layer. Consequently problems associated with the alignment of a liquid crystal and security of passivation (cracking of thin passivation) are also reduced. Next, a thin composite passivation layer is deposited on a plurality of the metal pixels and the antireflective coating material. As a result, the antireflective coating material deposited in the gap region reduces the transmission of the incident light between the metal pixels and toward the active elements of the display and alleviates problems associated with excessive step height between the metal pixels.
