<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for an electronic display which improves the contrast of the electronic display by removing unnecessary outside light by setting it in front of the electronic display. <P>SOLUTION: The filter is provided with a layer containing an extended porphyrin type compound expressed in general formula (1), in which, R1 to R18 denote, each independently, a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, hydroxyl group, alkyl group which may have a substituent, alkoxy group which may have a substituent, and aryl group which may have a substituent or aryloxy group.
