<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for collecting coolant and sludge, in which respective devices are efficiently arranged without stopping centralized coolant. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for collecting coolant and sludge comprises: a plurality of dividing devices 4, 5, 6 which divide the apparatus into a machining line 1, a dirty tank 2, sludge, and coolant; distributing devices 4a, 5a, 6a which are attached to the dividing devices and distribute the sludge 14 to sludge boxes 4b, 5b, 6b and a conveying device 20; an agitating and distributing device 40 which once stores the sludge supplied from the conveying device and then distributes the sludge again; a plurality of press devices 51 which compress the sludge supplied from the agitating and distributing device and further solidify the sludge while discharging small amount of coolant; and a collecting device 54 for collecting the solidified sludge 15. When any trouble occurs in the supply of the sludge, the supply of the sludge from the preceding process is stopped, and the sludge is finally stored in the sludge boxes.
