PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character generating device which can grasp the purpose and use of font information. SOLUTION: The character generating device 10, equipped with a storage part 100 which stores at least one piece of font information 110 including font design information 120, a generation part 200 which reads font information stored in the storage part according to inputted character information to generate characters, and an output part 300 which outputs the characters generated by the generation part, is so constituted that each piece of font information includes purpose/use information 130 in addition to the font design information.
