p-Aminobenzylidene malonic acid derivatives (I) are new. p-Aminobenzylidene malonic acid derivatives of formula (I) and (II), are new, except for 2-(4-acetamidobenzylidene)malonic acid. [Image] X1H, COR3, SO2R3 or COOR3; X2COR3aCO, SO2R3aSO2 or COOR3aOCO; R21-8C alkyl; n : 0-2; R31-30C alkyl or 3-30C alkenyl optionally interrupted by O, N or Si heteroatoms (both optionally substituted by at least 1 OH), or optionally substituted 6-20C aryl; R3a1-30C alkylene or 3-30C alkenylene optionally interrupted by O, N or Si heteroatoms (both optionally substituted by OH), and A : alkali metal, NH4, 1-20C mono-, di- or tri-alkylammonium, 2-20C mono-, di- or tri-alkanolammonium or 5-8C quaternary nitrogen heterocyclyl. Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparation of (I), and (2) a cosmetic or dermatological composition for photoprotection of keratinic materials, which comprises at least one compound (I) or (II) in a carrier.
