The transporting device handles portions (10) of cut tobacco and includes a conveyor (13) with receivers such as beakers (14, 15) each to receive one portion. The beakers are arranged in pairs, each pair forming a single unit. Starting at the filling point (18), the beakers are positioned alongside each other at the emptying point (19) transversely to the conveyor for tilting to empty them simultaneously.
