<p>A reactive composition comprises 65 to 99 parts by weight of a polyamide having the recurring group <FORM:0994617/C3/1> where R1 is an alkylene radical having 2 to 16 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen, an alkyl radical having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a halogen, said polyamide having a molecular weight of 1000 to 35,000, and correspondingly 35 to 1 parts by weight of a thermosetting formaldehyde resin. Specified polyamides are those derived from hexamethylene, tetramethylene, decamethylene, undecamethylene, dodecamethylene, hexadecamethylene or ethylene diamine and isophthalic, 5-t.-butyl isophthalic or 5-chloro-isophthalic acid. Specified thermosetting resins are phenol-, urea- and melamine-formaldehyde resins. The compositions may be used as adhesives. Specification 994,618 is referred to.</p> |
