WIRELESS LAN AND A METHOD FOR SETTING A DIRECT LINK PROTOCOL BETWEEN WIRELESS LAN STATIONS, CONCERNED WITH GUARANTEEING STABLE QUALITY OF SERVICE IN SETTING A DLP BETWEEN TWO STATIONS

PURPOSE: A wireless LAN and a method for setting a DLP(Direct Link Protocol) between wireless LAN stations is provided to guarantee stable quality of service in setting a DLP between two stations. CONSTITUTION: Each wireless station is in an idle state(901). The first station transmits a request frame(DLP_REQ) to the second station through a QAP(QoS-capable Access Point)(903) and waits for a response frame(DLP_RES)(905). The second station transmits its position information to the QAP and the QAP transmits its position information to the first station(907). The first station extracts position information of the second station and the QAP(909). The first station obtains a distance(D1) between the first and second stations and a distance(D2) between the first station and the QAP(911). The first station compares D1 and D2(913). If D1 is greater than D2, the first station determines whether D1 is greater than double the D2(917). If D1 is smaller than double the D2, a DLP between the first and second stations is classified as good(919). A certain determining algorithm stored in the first station compares D1 and d2 and determines to which extent the DLP is to be allowed(923). If the determining algorithm is satisfied, the first station transmits a probe for a DLP to the second station(927) and the first station waits for a recognition signal(ACK) from the second station(929). When the first station receives the ACK, an MAC of the first station transmits a success primitive to its SME(Station Management Entity)(931).
