The retractable roof comprises rigid front (2) and rear (3) roof elements which can be displaced between a position where they cover the driving compartment and a position where they are put away in the rear boot. The rear roof element has its rear part guided by a first runner (8) fixed to the vehicle structure and its front part articulated on an arm (9) pivoted on the chassis about a spindle (11). The front roof element carries a second runner (5) and slides on a third runner (6) fixed to the rear element.
