PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for performing image processing of an HDTV image in a shorter period of time. SOLUTION: An input of an NTSC image is obtained as well as the HDTV image for one and the same object, an NTSC image processing processor applies preprocessing to the NTSC image to define a target area for performing image processing, and an HDTV image processor applies image processing to the HDTV image for the defined target area to display the HDTV image. In addition, the NTSC image processing processor applies preprocessing to the NTSC image to define a target area for performing image processing, an area with the same number of pixels as that of the NTSC image is segmented from the HDTV image with the defined target area as a reference, and the NTSC image processing processor applies image processing to the area to display the area.
