LEAD-FREE GLASS MATERIAL FOR USE IN SEALING AND, SEALED ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR SEALING USING THE SAME

A lead-free glass material for use in sealing which comprises 20 to 80 wt % of a network forming oxide of one or both of B2O3 and V2O5, 0 to 60 wt % of ZnO, 0 to 80 wt % of BaO, with the proviso that it comprises al least one of ZnO and BaO. The glass material for use in sealing is free of lead, can be used for sealing over a wide range of relatively low processing temperatures, exhibits a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and is excellent in adhesiveness, sealing processability, firmly sticking property, chemical stability, strength and the like, and thus has a practical performance capability sufficient to be used alternatively for a lead containing glass.
