PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit which can detect a stable top hold push-pull signal even when influence of a track groove of an optical disk is present and sensitivity of an optical detecting means is unbalanced. SOLUTION: This unit is provided with droop rate variable means 13, 14 which can switch a droop rate of at least one kind or more, and the top hold push-pull signal is detected while switching a droop rate in accordance with a tracking error period from a tracking error signal period detecting means 12 by these droop rate variable means 13, 14.
