<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material made of a novel cyclic conjugated diene resin and excellent in discoloration resistance at high temperatures; an optical product prepared by forming the optical material excellent in impact resistance, stability against heat distortion, and transparency-retaining properties in a pyrogenic environment; a lens as the optical product; and an optical product obtained by coating the above product with an inorganic thin film. <P>SOLUTION: The optical material at least contains (A) repeating units derived from a cyclic conjugated diene monomer and (B) repeating units derived from an aromatic vinyl monomer having a hydrogen atom at the α-position and has a random structure, provided at least a part of the main chain and side chains of the material have been hydrogenated.
