POLYSILANE AND POLYMER LIQUID CRYSTAL MATERIAL USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polysilane from which a polymer liquid crystal exhibiting a plurality of liquid crystal phases resulting from phase transition caused by temperature change or concentration change is obtained simply, easily and inexpensively and a polymer liquid crystal material using the polysilane. SOLUTION: The polysilane is a polymer compound which has a rigid rod-like structure and is optically inactive. The phase structure of the polymer liquid crystal material using the polysilane changes among a columnar, a nematic and a smetic liquid crystal phases depending at least on either of temperature change or concentration change.
