TRACK BALL DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trackball device to be arranged as an input operation part of various kinds of electronic equipment, which attains the rotation regulation of a ball stably and its rotating operation smoothly in an operable direction.

SOLUTION: The device comprises a first constraint part 51 for nipping and constraining the ball 31 rotatably supported by a support member 32 from both sides in point symmetric positions by brake parts 65 and 77 disposed in opposite positions on a horizontal plane passing the center of the ball 31, the brake parts 65 and 77 being rotatable in the orthogonal direction to the constraining direction. Therefore, the ball 31 can be stably constrained without slippage and also smoothly rotated in the operable direction.
