PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing anε-type copper phthalocyanine pigment by which the pigment particles are micronized and sized comparable to the solvent salt milling method, which realizes micronization and sizing of the pigment particles of theε-type copper phthalocyanine pigment while utilizing the advantage of the dry milling method of excellent production efficiency and the advantage that industrial wastes giving load on the environment are not generated. SOLUTION: This method for producing the organic pigment comprises the steps of dry milling a crudeε-type copper phthalocyanine pigment having a mean particle diameter larger than 100 nm to obtain a pre-pigment having 10-100 nm mean particle diameter, adding a small amount of an organic solvent having crystal growth promoting ability to the pigment and dry milling the mixture, sizing the dry milled pigment while controlling the variation in the mean particle diameter within 30 nm, and obtaining the objective organic pigment in which the pigment particle larger than 100 nm is≤20 wt.% and the pigment particle in the range of 20 to 100 nm is≥60 wt.% in the whole pigment particles, respectively.
