<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently react and reform natural gas using a catalyst to yield a reformed fuel, and to drive an engine with the reformed fuel. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of carbon dioxide adsorption and desorption chambers 20 and 21 are separated by a partition 32 and houses a porous metal coated with an adsorbent which adsorbs carbon dioxide contained in an exhaust gas at a low temperature and desorbs it at an elevated temperature. Downstream the carbon dioxide adsorption and desorption chambers 20 and 21, a first reforming chamber 22 which reforms the natural gas using carbon dioxide in the presence of the catalyst and a second reforming chamber 23 which reforms the un-reformed natural gas using steam in the presence of the catalyst are successively installed. The porous metal is located in each of the carbon dioxide adsorption and desorption chambers 20 and 21, the first reforming chamber 22 and the second reforming chamber 23 to improve the heat exchange efficiency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
