PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit which is excellent in transmission characteristics and is useful when used for low-cost air pressure feeding. SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit 100 for air pressure feeding is constituted by applying an internal covering 130 on the outside of at least a plurality of pieces of coated optical fibers 110. A clearance is disposed between the coated optical fibers 110 and the internal coating 130 and an intervening body 120 is interposed into this clearance to gather the coated optical fibers 110 without intertwining the fibers to each other. The unit which has the excellent transmission characteristics and is low at cost is obtained by the structure having the spatial margin produced by such intervening body 120.
