INFORMATION RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing device in which occurrence of damage to a mechanism caused by impact applied while transporting the device is prevented by providing an impact force reducing mechanism and a form factor standard size and impact resistance characteristics are satisfied. SOLUTION: The device is provided with an impact absorbing member which is formed by kneading granular solid member and viscoelastic member at the outer peripheral surface of the device. When an impact is applied to the outer peripheral surface of the device, the impact absorbing member is greatly deformed, impact energy is sufficiently consumed by internal friction and the occurrence of damage to the internal mechanism is prevented. The deformed member can be repaired to an original shape and repeatedly used. The approximate value of the applied impact acceleration can be found by referring to an impact acceleration table provided on the device and the actual deformation condition.
