PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AQUEOUS RESIN DISPERSION

A process for producing an aqueous resin dispersion in which the dispersed resin has an average particle diameter of 500 nm or smaller, characterized by finely dispersing a monomer mixture (I) comprising (A) a fatty acid-modified polymerizable unsaturated monomer and (B) a polymerizable unsaturated monomer copolymerizable with the monomer (A) in an aqueous medium so as to result in an average particle diameter of 500 nm or smaller and polymerizing the resultant emulsion. Also provided are an aqueous resin composition containing the aqueous resin dispersion and a water-based coating composition comprising the aqueous resin composition.
