MAMMAL CYTOPROTECTIVE AGENT CONTAINING LIGNOPHENOL DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cytoprotective agent using a lignophenol derivative which is one kind of a lignin derivative.

SOLUTION: The mammal cytoprotective agent contains one or more kinds of the lignin derivatives selected from the group consisting of (a) a water-soluble lignin secondary derivative obtained by treating a primary derivative of the lignin, obtained by adding an acid to a lignin-containing material solvated with a phenol compound and mixing them, with an alkali, (b) a lignin secondary derivative obtained by subjecting the lignin primary derivative described in (a) to carboxyalkylation with a carboxyalkyl group having a 1-5C lower alkyl group, and (c) a lignin tertiary derivative obtained by subjecting the water-soluble and/or water-insoluble lignin secondary derivative obtained by carrying out an alkali treatment of the primary derivative obtained by adding the acid to the lignin-containing material solvated with the phenol compound and mixing them, to the carboxyalkylation with the carboxyalkyl group having the 1-5C lower alkyl group.
