<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can surely prevent a lens cap from deforming without turning off a lamp power source when the lens cap is mounted on a projection lens while a lamp is lit. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 1 which modulates the light from a lamp 13 with liquid crystal panels 17R, 17G, and 17B and projects the modulated light with a projection lens is equipped with: a detection part 5 which detects whether the lens cap for protecting the projection lens is mounted; and a projection display control part 18 which controls the liquid crystal panels 17R, 17G, and 17B to shield or dim the light from the lamp 13 when it is judged from a signal from a detection part 5 that the lens cap is mounted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
