An electrically operated door opening and closing apparatus 1 includes an electric motor 10, gearing 12, 14 operatively connecting the motor 10 to a rotatable output member 16, and a clutch 11 between the motor 10 and output member 16. Operation of the electric motor 10 causes rotation of the output member 16 except when a resistive force above a predetermined level is applied to the output member. A linkage 18 extends from the output member 16 and is connectable between a pivotally mounted door 2 and a fixture 3, such that rotation of the output member causes opening or closing of the door. The apparatus 1 may include a slip clutch 11 and switching means to control the electric motor 10 at predetermined positions of the output member 16. |
