PURPOSE: A method for processing a gift certificate by linking with a card is provided to overcome a problem, such as possession, loss, and breakage, of the paper typed offline gift certificate, and enhance the use of the gift certificate and other settlement tool by making a client conveniently store the gift certificate to the network and use the gift certificate stored on the network with use of a credit card. CONSTITUTION: The information for the offline gift certificate held by the client and the information for the credit card to load the gift certificate are provided to a terminal(205). The terminal requests an approval for the gift certificate by transmitting the gift certificate information to a gift certificate approval server(210). The gift certificate completely processing the approval is stored in a database on the network by linking with the credit card information(225). When the client uses the gift certificate linked with the credit card, the gift certificate stored in the database by linking with the credit card information is used.
