PURPOSE: A playing method of a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to perform a basic function for performing music by setting a key matrix of a mobile phone as a keyboard. CONSTITUTION: A user sets the scale in order to use a keypad of an input unit of a mobile phone as a keyboard in a music play mode, for which the user inputs a corresponding key signal by pressing a pre-set specific key. A central processing unit displays a screen for setting the scale of the keyboard on a display unit and the user sets the scale of the keyboard in a desired form by manipulating keys. Thereafter, the user plays music with number keys of the keypad. At this time, the central processing unit controls a midi data outputting unit according to an inputted key signal to output midi data. A play sound outputting unit generates a music sound corresponding to the midi data and outputs it to a speaker, so that the user can hear the sound of the music that he/she is playing.
