INTEGRATED CELL SEARCHING UNIT OF DUAL MODE MODEM SUPPORTING DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION MODES

PURPOSE: An integrated cell searching unit of a dual mode modem supporting different communication modes is provided to reduce a chip size of a dual mode modem by enabling one cell searching unit to perform a cell searching operation in different communication modes. CONSTITUTION: A UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) code generator(41) and a CDMA 2000 code generator(42) generate a certain code for searching a cell in each corresponding mode. A PN signal selector(43) receives an output of the UMTS code generator(41) and an output of the CDMA 2000 code generator(42), and outputs one output code of them to a correlator(44). A receiver(45) receives a certain code from a base station and outputs the code to the correlator(44). The correlator(44) correlates the code received from the receiver(45) and the output code of the PN signal selector(43) and outputs a corresponding result.
