PURPOSE: A radio frequency(RF) shield and a magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) system are provided to prevent quality of MRI image from being degraded by an eddy current generated in the RF shield. CONSTITUTION: An RF shield for an MRI system(100) is characterized in that the RF shield is grounded through a capacitor. The eddy current generated in the RF shield by an X-axis gradient coil, a Y-axis gradient coil, and a Z-axis gradient coil is uniformly discharged to an earth ground. The RF shield is connected to a magnet at four points having different angles through the capacitor. The magnet is connected to the earth ground. Quality of MRI image is prevented from being degraded by the eddy current generated in the RF shield.
