摘要
987,717. Locking nuts; pipe joints; wire &c. Strainers. FIBORA A.G., and W. ENGELMANN. Nov. 30, 1962 [Dec. 6, 1961; April 17, 1962], No. 45366/62. Headings F2G and F2H. [Also in Division B4] A lock nut 1, for use on bolts, pipes or turnbuckles, has a reduced neck end divided into segments 3 which, after tightening of the nut and by the non-rotary action of a clamp and without further rotation of the nut or bolt &c. are all compressed radially inward to grip the bolt &c. The clamp may be a simple loop of wire 24, Fig. 9, in a groove 21 on the segments 3, with the ends 25 twisted together, in which case there may be transverse slots 26 at the bases of the segments to give them extra resilience. The wire may be replaced by an open ring with a loop and lever connecting the ends and tightened by the lever, Fig. 11 (not shown). The outer surfaces of the segments 3 may form a cone 4, Fig. 3, so that the segments are compressed by axial movement of a closed ring 5 (with a conical inner surface) by levering with screwdrivers or wedge-ended pliers, Figs. 15, 16 (not shown). This form is shown applied to the joining of a pipe to another pipe, Fig. 12 (not shown), or to a tank, Fig. 13 (not shown), or applied to a turnbuckle, Fig. 14 (not shown). The conical surfaces may be grooved to prevent loosening of the ring 5 which may have an external flange at the top, Fig. 1 (not shown); the loosening may be prevented by a cap 7 with tabs, on a rim 8, bent in beneath the ring 5, or the rim may extend to be bent in at least in parts. The ring hole may be small enough to give slight initial tension to the segments 3 before tightening the nut 1. Instead of the thick ring 5, a closed sheet metal band, Fig. 4 (not shown), of conical form may embrace the segments 3. The band is raised axially by pliers with pins for engaging diametrically opposed holes in the band. Tabs at the top of the band are then bent over the tops of the segments 3. The ring 5 or the conical band may be kept raised by wire or a spring ring between it and the nut body. In a form in which the neck formed by the segments 3 is cylindrical or tapered up to a bead end, a clip like a hose clip, with ends drawn together by a screw, compresses the segments or a clip 13, Fig. 6, is tightened by a C-slide 15 pushed down over the inclined ends 14 of the turned-back end portions of the clip band. A tab 17 on the band may be bent over the slide 15, or the latter may have a tab to be bent under the band, to hold the slide on. In Fig. 7 a wire ring 18 open or in halves is located in a groove 21 around the segments 3 and the pair or each pair of turnedback ends 19 is held in an elongated hole in a stirrup 20, so that lowering of the stirrup to one side draws the ends together to tighten the ring 18 and segments 3.
