<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having re-electrifying members each of which electrostatically traps toner, re-electrifies trapped toner gradually, and discharges the toner toward a corresponding image carrier before it accumulates in large quantity. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: development units 5 each of which holds toner electrified to a specific polarity and attaches the toner to an electrostatic latent image, thereby developing the electrostatic latent image with the toner; and the re-electrifying members 6 each of which comes into contact with the image carrier 1 after transfer of a toner image to a transfer body, electrostatically traps toner remaining on the image carrier 1, and then electrostatically re-electrifies trapped toner to the polarity which is the same as that of the toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
