A prosthesis, such as a breast prosthesis, which includes a tissue contacting coating of hydrophilic polymer is provided. The hydrophilic polymer includes polymers having a water content from about 35% to about 80% by weight when hydrated. The hydrophilic polymer may be used with prostheses for cartilage, bone, muscle, fat, artery, vein, heart valve, tendons, tendon sheaths, dura, skin, trachea, bronchi, esophagus, teeth, and hair. One useful hydrophilic polymer is poly hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate. |
