<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for controlling cytokinesis of a plant, and to provide a technique for creating a sterile plant, capable of being efficiently applied to plants in a wide range, because the plant having genetic male sterility is useful. <P>SOLUTION: An NACK1 gene, an NACK2 gene, an analogous gene thereof, control of expression of a gene related thereto, a technique for controlling formation and enlargement of a phragmoplast of the plant by modifying a protein of the NACK1 or the NACK1 and using the modified protein as a dominant negative molecule, and a technique related to the expression of the gene specific to a pollen forming tissue of a promoter of the gene related to the NACK1 or the NACK2 are provided, respectively. The control of the formation and the enlargement of the phragmoplast makes it possible to modify cell division, and further makes it possible to create the plant of which the development and differentiation are modified, and to create the plant which exhibits the male sterility by controlling formation of pollen exhibiting a normal function, so that the control brings about increase in productivity of breeding and crops, and is useful in agricultural and horticultural fields. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
