<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set for displaying an image when a melody is ringed. <P>SOLUTION: Trigger data TA, TB, TC and TD are time sequentially embedded in melody data α in accordance with a time base t. When the trigger data TA is detected during ringing of a melody corresponding to the melody data α, an image PA corresponding to the trigger data TA is displayed.
