PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge absorber for absorbing a surge such as thunder applied to a line to protect connected equipment connected to the line from the surge, and having a life-time display for displaying the life-time of the absorber, specially by sensing and displaying an abnormal heat of a varistor with change in color. SOLUTION: A surge absorber comprises a varistor B fixed to the inside of an at least partially transparent or a translucent box C with a member 8 which changes and displays its own color at the predetermined temperature arranged. The life-time of the surge absorber varied by the damage of the varistor can be easily and speedily confirmed by visually confirming a change in color of the member for displaying a temperature by the change in color.
