PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact dehumidifier having a vertically elongated planar shape and a relatively large tank capacity, capable of being carried in a well balanced manner. SOLUTION: The dehumidifier comprises a machine room 6 storing a compressor 8 provided at the rear part of a bottom plate 2 isolated by a partition plate 5 in a frame and a tank room 7 storing a drain tank 9 provided at the front part of the bottom plate 2, respectively. An air inlet and an air outlet are provided in the side face of the frame and in the upper face thereof, respectively. An evaporator, a condenser and a blowing fan are provided on the upper side of the machine room 6 and the tank room 7 isolated with a drain pan or others. The air inlet is communicated with the evaporator, the condenser, the blowing fan and the air outlet to form a blow passage. A size between both right and left side faces of the frame 1 is gradually wider as tending from the rear part to the front side. The drain tank 9 is provided at the lower part of the front face.
