PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic switch for a starter, which prevents the tightening deterioration of a screw 7 caused by the heat creep of a resin (a contact cover 4). SOLUTION: The contact cover 4 holding exterior terminals 2, 3 is molded of a material such as a thermosetting resin, and provided with a fixing part 4A which is fixed to a switch frame 6 by tightening the screw 7, the fixing part 4A being insertion molded with a metal component 8. The metal component 8 has a cylindrical shape, and a hollow bore to insert the screw 7 through. The metal component 8 is provided with a radially outwardly expandable flange 8a at the end opposite to the frame in the axial direction of the cylindrical shape, The tightening force of the screw 7 is exerted on the flange 8a through a washer 24. The total length in the axial direction of the metal component 8 is slightly longer than that of the fixing part 4A of the contact cover 4 so that the tightening force of the screw 7 cannot be exerted on the contact cover 4.
