The outer filter for the lit side of a cigarette has an inner tubelet (2) pushed into the lit cigarette and connected with an outer casing (1), both items being perforated (1a,2a). The inner tubelet is encased in a heat-resistant, air-permeable filter unit (3). The space between the outer casing and the inner tubelet is filled with an exchangeable filter filling (4), preferably active carbon. The outer casing is enclosed by an air-permeable material (5), preferably cigar-colored. The inner tubelet is enclosed by an inner cap (6). Two pins (8) are fitted on a closure cap (7) bayonet closure. On closure the pins can be fitted into two slit apertures on both sides, inserted into the outer casing and then rotated.
