<p>A training system for catheter operations, e.g. for fitting stents and repairing ruptures, has a mock up of part of the blood vessel system, e.g. heart plus associated veins and arteries, made of flexible transparent plastic. The construction and choice of materials approximates as much as possible the actual body conditions and the training model is filled with pumped fluid and has an integral tray. The fluid is pumped to simulate circulation and can be pulsed. The transparent construction enables tutors to monitor progress while the trainee operates via a VDU.</p> |
