PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in an electric connector under request for miniaturization that a rib becomes narrow in width if a receiving part by the rib is formed in an insertion cavity as before, and the prevention of reverse plugging becomes unstable. SOLUTION: At reverse plugging of a socket connector 4, an end face 23a of an elastic arm 21 of the socket connector 4 is received with a wide part 7c of an open edge part 7a of the insertion cavity 7 of a base connector 2 to prevent the reverse plugging. The open edge part 7a of a rear wall 10 on the opposite side to a front wall 9 which needs to have a concave part 29 opened for guiding a first end part 23 of the elastic arm 21 can have a wide part 7c fitted comparatively freely by widening itself outward and can secure a sufficient area needed for preventing the reverse plugging.
