<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new surgical instrument used in a computer-assisted navigation system. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical instrument includes at least one reference point element for positioning in a navigation system disposed on an attachment assembly. The attachment assembly, rotatably attached on the instrument, includes a counterweight or other rotation preventive mechanism. Accordingly, the reference point element can be kept in a prescribed direction. A rotatable shaft extends, through the attachment assembly, and has one end part to be fixed to a rotary driver such as a drill and a second end part to be fixed to a rotary tool such as a reamer. The second end part firmly grasps a drive tool by using a collet assembly, and can limit the relative movement of the tool and the reference point element disposed on the attachment assembly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
